Objectives of the Project
The purpose of the project is to contribute to the implementation of the national adaptation strategy – the Strategic Framework for Adaptation to Climate Change, adopted by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia in 2016 – and thereby strengthen Slovenia’s resilience to climate change.
Through the project, Slovenia will develop solutions for effective adaptation to increasingly frequent extreme weather events and long-term environmental changes.
General Objectives of the LIFE4ADAPT Project
- To provide support for the full implementation of the 2016 Strategic Framework for Adaptation to Climate Change.
- To ensure the availability of knowledge, data, and human resources required for expert assessments supporting adaptation-related policies and measures.
- To contribute to the development of transdisciplinary knowledge and to strengthen institutional capacities and stakeholder cooperation in order to accelerate the achievement of climate adaptation goals.
- To accelerate the planning and implementation of climate adaptation measures at regional and municipal levels, including through the upgrading of the Climate Office’s activities.
- To establish supporting activities enabling an effective monitoring and evaluation system for climate adaptation, broader communication and exchange of experience and information, as well as stakeholder awareness-raising, training, and education.
- To implement pilot climate adaptation measures in a manner ensuring replicability and contributing to broader sustainable development objectives, including greenhouse gas emission reductions, enhanced biodiversity, and strengthened social resilience, inter alia through the mobilisation of complementary funding sources.
