This week Slovenian Forestry Institute hosts the Combined Expert Panel Meeting on Foliage and Litterfall / Soil and Soil Solution / Deposition / Working Group on QA/QC. The meeting started on Monday with excursion to Škocjan Caves.
Nearly 20 participant of ICP Forest meeting attended the excursion to excursion to southern west part of Slovenia, Škocjan Caves. The Caves are part of UNESCO Natural Heritages since 1986 and are unique for underground features made by River Reka. The underground canyon is approximately 3,5 km long, 10 to 60 meters wide and over 140 meters high. More information about Škocjan Caves are on information list here.
The participant of the Combined Expert Panel also visited The Church of the Holy Trinty and other cultural sights in the old Istrian village Hrastovlje.
The participants were impressed by the beauty of Slovenian natural and cultural heritage.
