PIGG

Oddelek za prirastoslovje in gojenje gozda

Raziskovalno delo na našem oddelku je usmerjeno v raziskovanje rasti in prirastka naših gozdov, v preučevanje odziva drevja in ekosistemov na okoljske in klimatske spremembe. Skladno s tem razvijamo nove gozdnogojitvene pristope v stresno prizadetih gozdovih.

Poleg tega imamo v oddelku večje število domačih projektov katerih financerji so različna ministrstva in drugi uporabniki naših storitev.

Research work of the department is focused on the study of yield, tree response and forest ecosystems to changing climatic and environmental conditions. New silvicultural techniques and approaches are studied in order to assure future development of our forests. Important task of our department is also developing knowledge and expertise on a field of ecological and environmental modelling using the most up to date knowledge and techniques. Our research and professional work is harmonized with vision and strategy of SFI.

Currently we are engaged in four EU projects (MILLENNIUM, EUMON, AGRIFOR and ALPENERGY), several Slovenian projects funded by different Slovenian governmental bodies and many bilateral co-operations with top European and USA institutions. Beside this we tightly co-operate with other departments at the SFI offering our knowledge and expertise to project studying carbon sink (KYOTO protocol), performing intensive monitoring of Slovene forests and modelling migration path of wild animals.
